This beginner walkthrough walks new Devil Hunter players through the first several hours — tutorial, rank gates, first craft, and Floor Zero introduction. Follow steps in order; skip ahead only if you already completed prerequisites on another character.
Step 1: Character Creation
Choose human or fiend after reading human vs fiend. Reroll clan/fiend later with codes — do not restart the game over a bad roll on day one.
Step 2: Induction Tutorial
Kintoki guides basic combat and unlocks the phone. Press N (PC) to verify access. Full progression context in how to progress guide.
Step 3: Meet Division Captains
Visit all six captains in HQ. Required for rank stars and code redemption. Division 3 has a dedicated join guide.
Step 4: Mission Grind and Rank
Accept board missions, earn yen and stars per rank up guide. Target First Class Hunter before worrying about hybrid or Katana raid.
Step 5: First Weapon Craft
Use HQ smith to replace starter gear — see weapons page for recipe priorities. Broad Axe or Combat Knife upgrades matter more than saving for S-tier immediately.
Step 6: Floor Zero Introduction
Descend via HQ elevator per Floor Zero map. Hunt weak devils for first contract materials following contracts path.
Step 7: Redeem Codes and Plan Build
Once eligible, redeem from codes page. Pick a build from builds hub and plan stats in build calculator.
